This book was a rush from start to finish and I found myself immediately looking to see if there is a second book to the story. The tales of Dix and Porter, an old man and a boy just becoming a man, are intertwined here and the action is compelling and rapid fire throughout. Dix’s memories of the places where he grew up and the family connections he muses on later in the book are particularly powerful after all his struggles, and I could easily imagine a person in his position taking on the “search-and-destroy” mindset he adopts. The contrast with Porter is intriguing as this boy has to make life and death decisions at an early age, and I like how the adults who get to know him quickly figure out he is not fooling around while he still maintains a respectful air.
All in all, I would give this book more stars if I could. I am a fan of the disaster genre and this book is well thought out and easy to follow and the action starts almost immediately. With likeable characters, a revenge driven plot and survival of the nation at stake, this book will be one I will read again while I wait for a new offering. The ending is not a cliff hanger, exactly, but you will be left wanting more.
Jernigan’s War is a compelling and suspenseful novel about
Dix Jernigan, a middle-aged American. Following the murder of his family and the destruction of his property, his survival knowledge and abilities lead us with him through riots, insurrection and foreign invasion. Its a really good read and what a great movie could be made of this book if the PC police could be avoided.

This book painted a vivid picture with my imagination. I can not put it down. Ken Gallender did an amazing job.
Read this book and take a good look at yourself America because we are speeding down this very road. These parasites in the White House and DC are cheering us on. I was truly heartbroken to see our future so well laid out in this book. For God’s sake waken up.
I just want to say THXs for a good book I don’t know if there will be anymore in this series But I will be looking for them or more Books from this Author
Not a bad story, decent writing; kept my interest. I would read more by this author, especially if future books involved the same characters.
Very intense fiction novel and written in an easy to read style. You feel a part of the story. Good insight into what this country and world will have to deal with, very soon. Communist invasion. Recommend, even for mature young folks.
I was given an autographed copy from a friend of Ken’s. I could not put it down. Can’t wait for Porter’s Run.
